Virgil van Dijk future to be discussed after Arne Slot gets Liverpool news he didn't want.

Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, and Ryan Gravenberch might now miss Liverpool's US tour following their European Championship exit.

The Dutch trio was ousted by England in the semi-finals in Dortmund on Wednesday night, with Ollie Watkins scoring the decider after Harry Kane's penalty neutralized Xavi Simons's early goal.

Van Dijk and Gakpo completed the match in Germany, while Gravenberch remained on the bench. The three will receive a three-week break before rejoining their Liverpool teammates for the upcoming Premier League season.

Their return to Liverpool coincides with the final phase of the Reds' US pre-season tour in early August. A decision will be made whether to fly them over or have them report at Merseyside's AXA Training Centre.

Liverpool's tour begins with a friendly against Real Betis in Pittsburgh on July 26, followed by a match against Manchester United on July 31 in Philadelphia.

The tour concludes with a game against Mikel Arteta's Arsenal in Columbia on August 3. With Van Dijk, Gravenberch, and Gakpo on holiday until early next month, they are expected to join the team on Merseyside.

The August 11 friendly against Sevilla at Anfield will likely include Van Dijk, Gravenberch, and Gakpo, with the season starting six days later against Ipswich Town.

Van Dijk's return could prompt contract discussions with Liverpool, as new sporting director Richard Hughes began his tenure on June 1, while Van Dijk was preparing with the Dutch squad.
