Virgil van Dijk achieves Champions League first with assist hat-trick

Virgil van Dijk has become the first central defender to provide three assists in a single Champions League match.
The Liverpool captain brought up that record in Wednesday night’s 6-0 victory over Qarabag at Anfield.
Having supplied the final touch before Alexis Mac Allister opened the scoring, a long pass from Van Dijk led to Hugo Ekitike’s finish during the second half.
The No.4 then surged forward and set up Federico Chiesa in the last minute to claim a unique hat-trick of assists.
