Poignant tributes for Diogo Jota and Andre Silva at Preston v Liverpool

Special tributes were made to Diogo Jota and Andre Silva at Liverpool’s pre-season friendly against Preston North End today.

The match at Deepdale was the Reds’ first since the tragic passing of the brothers in a road traffic accident in Spain last Thursday.

A live performance of You’ll Never Walk Alone ahead of kick-off was accompanied by the home team laying a wreath alongside the away supporters.

A minute’s silence was observed and tributes displayed across screens and pitchside LEDs, while both sets of players wore black armbands in memory of Diogo and Andre.

After the full-time whistle confirmed a 3-1 win for the visitors, Liverpool players, staff and fans came together in an emotional moment of mutual support.
