Wataru Endo returns to action in Japan friendly

Wataru Endo made his first appearance after injury in Japan’s pre-World Cup friendly against Iceland.
The Liverpool midfielder played the first half of Sunday’s match in Tokyo, which finished 1-0 to the hosts.
Endo had not featured for club or country since sustaining a foot injury in the Reds’ win at Sunderland in February.
Japan’s next game is their World Cup opener against a Netherlands squad containing three of Endo’s teammates – Cody Gakpo, Ryan Gravenberch and Virgil van Dijk – in Arlington, Texas, on June 14.
