Mo Salah goal and assist help Egypt secure spot in AFCON semi-finals

Mohamed Salah scored and assisted on Saturday to help Egypt secure a spot in the Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals.

The Pharaohs defeated holders Ivory Coast 3-2 in a last-eight tie in Agadir, with Salah netting his country's third.

Omar Marmoush opened the scoring after four minutes and Ramy Rabia headed in a corner from Salah to put Egypt 2-0 up midway through the first half.

Their lead was halved close to the break when Ahmed Fotouh inadvertently put the ball into his own net.

Salah, however, restored the two-goal cushion not long into the second period to take his tally in the tournament to four from as many appearances.

Guela Doue pulled one back for Ivory Coast to set up a tense finale, but Egypt held on to book a meeting with Senegal in the next phase on Wednesday.
