LFC fitness update: Alisson Becker, Federico Chiesa and Alexander Isak

Alisson Becker's fitness continues to be monitored ahead of Liverpool's Premier League meeting with Tottenham Hotspur.

The goalkeeper missed the Champions League visit to Galatasaray in midweek as a result of a minor issue sustained on the eve of that game.

Speaking about the No.1 at a press conference on Friday morning, Arne Slot said: "He's been with the physios and with rehab until now.

"We are training today as you know, so let's see if he can join the team session today. That is something I expect but I'm not 100 per cent sure yet because I haven't spoken to him or the medical staff this morning yet."

Asked whether he was 'hopeful' about Alisson's availability for Sunday, the head coach replied: "I'm hopeful but that's not to say I'm 100 per cent sure."

Slot later added: "He felt something when he passed the ball in one of his muscles. But after we checked it, it was so minor that we think it doesn't have to take very long.

"But as always, games follow up so fast that he had to miss the one against Galatasaray, and hopefully he's available and ready for Sunday.

"If not, I'm expecting him – if things go as planned – definitely against Galatasaray."

Due to illness, Federico Chiesa was also absent in Istanbul but is expected to be available for the weekend.

"I expect he feels better now because he felt unwell the day before the game and I think we're now three or four further ahead," said Slot. "So, I think he's able to train with us today again."

The Reds boss was also asked for an update on Alexander Isak as he continues to recover from surgery in December, and answered: "With the rehab team still and not with the team yet."

Slot later told reporters that he does not expect Isak to go on international duty with Sweden later this month.

He said: "If you ask me now, I would say I don't expect [it]. But we are still one-and-a-half weeks off, there is always co-operation between club and country, but I don't expect him to play for us before that."
