Liverpool are still assessing the chances of Cody Gakpo, Alexander Isak and Dominik Szoboszlai featuring against Brentford.

Liverpool can confirm that the three players who sustained injuries during the September/October international period remain under assessment ahead of Saturday’s Premier League fixture at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The trio have missed the Reds’ previous two matches, and head coach Andoni Iraola provided an update during his pre‑match press conference on Thursday.

“We still have tomorrow’s training, so it’s early for us to give a definitive answer,” Iraola said. “They were not ready to feature last night against LASK, and we’ll need to see how they progress. It’s still very early, but unlike the last few games, we’re keeping the possibility open.”

Liverpool return to league action less than 72 hours after their Champions League victory in Austria, with Iraola highlighting the demands of the current schedule.

“In this period, when we’re playing every three days — sometimes even less — the squad becomes essential,” he added. “That’s why we made changes yesterday, and we’ll need to rotate again at the weekend and again when we face Villarreal shortly after.

“We need every player. At one moment or another, each of them will be called upon. Everyone must be ready.”
