Eyebrows were raised about what it would mean for Liverpool when Arne Slot was announced as the new head coach instead of the manager.
Nevertheless, Slot has downplayed the significance of the difference, insisting there isn't "much of a change."
In his inaugural LFC TV interview, the Dutchman stated that being a head coach is "normal" for him, "as this is the custom in Europe and the Netherlands."
Slot, hailing from the Netherlands, has spent his entire coaching career in his home country, with stints at Zwolle, Cambuur, AZ Alkmaar, and then Feyenoord.
He remarked, "I don't believe there's a significant difference between a head coach and a manager; it's just that as a head coach, I can fully immerse myself in the things I want to do.
"That means working with the team, preparing them in the best possible way, and collaborating with Richard Hughes, the sporting director, on transfers, but not just the two of us.
A large backroom staff is also involved in this process.
"For me, this has always been my method of working, and it is the ideal way for me, as I can devote most of my time to working with the team. The remaining time will likely be split between family and discussions with Richard on how we can strengthen the team.
"However, we already possess a very strong team."
He is the first individual to be appointed as head coach in Liverpool's history, with previous leaders having been designated as managers.
Liverpool is undergoing a restructuring this summer, which includes the return of Michael Edwards, who will serve as CEO of Football for FSG, rather than the club itself.
Under him, Hughes has taken on the role of sporting director, having previously collaborated with Edwards at Portsmouth while Hughes was a player.
Jonathan Northcroft of The Times commented, "Liverpool believes the new structure better suits the complexities and demands of the modern game and that it will benefit the man."
