Alexander Isak joined Liverpool FC in September 2025 having earned a reputation as one of the Premier League's best forwards across three prolific seasons with Newcastle United.
The Sweden international striker scored 54 goals in 86 top-flight appearances – and 62 in 109 games overall – for his former club and added further elite-level quality to Arne Slot's squad of Premier League champions.
An attacker who combines skill, speed and ruthlessness in front of goal, Isak netted 27 times across all competitions in his final campaign at St. James' Park.
Born in the Solna suburb of Stockholm in September 1999, Isak rose through the youth ranks at AIK and debuted for the Swedish club at the age of 16. He marked the occasion with a goal.
Isak duly established himself in AIK's senior side before moving to Borussia Dortmund in January 2017. He would make 13 first-team appearances for the German club and picked up a DFB-Pokal winner's medal a few months after joining.
Following a successful loan spell with Willem II in the Netherlands, Isak signed for Real Sociedad in July 2019 and enjoyed three excellent years in La Liga.
He scored 44 goals in 132 appearances for Sociedad and was the competition's leading marksman as they won the 2019-20 Copa del Rey.
A transfer to Newcastle followed in 2022 and Isak netted on his Premier League debut versus, of all teams, Liverpool.
Now, though, Isak – who won his 50th international cap in November 2024 – will be scoring goals for the Reds, not against them.
